What You Can Do with an NZeTA
With an NZeTA, you can visit New Zealand for:
Tourism (exploring, sightseeing, cultural experiences)
Visiting friends and family
Attending short-term study programs (up to 3 months)
Attending events or business meetings (without paid work)
Restrictions
You cannot use an NZeTA to work, live permanently, or access medical treatment in New Zealand.
NZeTA Requirements
To apply for a New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA), applicants must meet the following criteria:
Good Character
No criminal convictions or deportations.
Good Health
No serious contagious diseases.
Sufficient Funds
Evidence of sufficient funds to cover the stay.
Return/Onward Ticket
Proof of a return flight or onward travel ticket.
Payment
Payment for the NZeTA fee and the International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL).
Required Documents
Valid Passport
A scan of a passport valid for at least three or six months, depending on the issuing country, with two blank pages for official use.
Photograph
A digital photo of your face that meets the government's requirements — portrait orientation, evenly lit, in color, plain light-colored background, showing your natural expression clearly.
Proof of Onward Travel
Evidence of a return or onward travel ticket.
Proof of Sufficient Funds
Bank statements, credit card statements, or travelers' cheques showing a minimum of NZD $1,000 per month or NZD $400 if accommodation is prepaid.

Validity
An NZeTA is valid for 2 years for travelers.
Duration of Stay
- • Most travelers: Up to 3 months per visit
- • UK citizens: Up to 6 months per visit
Note: Travelers can only stay in New Zealand for up to 6 months within any 12-month period, regardless of the NZeTA's validity.
